Disposal instructions

Dispose of batteries and rechargeable batteries in an environmentally friendly manner

Batteries and rechargeable batteries contain resources and pollutants. Therefore, every consumer is legally obligated to dispose of used batteries and rechargeable batteries at an authorized collection point. This ensures they are recycled in an environmentally friendly and resource-conserving manner.

Batteries containing hazardous substances bear the chemical symbols Cd for cadmium, Hg for mercury, and Pb for lead. Batteries are marked with the following symbol, which means that they must not be disposed of with household waste:

Electrical appliances contain valuable resources as well as pollutants. Therefore, every consumer is legally obligated to dispose of old electrical appliances at an authorized collection or take-back point, such as the local recycling center or waste disposal site. Old electrical appliances are accepted there free of charge and recycled in an environmentally sound and resource-conserving manner. You can also find authorized collection points near you at: www.take-e-back.de . Old electrical appliances with an edge length of up to 25 cm are accepted there free of charge - regardless of the number of your old appliances.

The prerequisite for accepting devices with an edge length greater than 25 cm at the take-e-back collection points is that you have purchased a new device from us and can prove this by presenting a corresponding proof of purchase.
By the way: If you cannot find a collection point near you at www.take-e-back.de, our customer service team will be happy to help you.

Free collection of old appliances

If a new appliance from categories 1 (heat exchangers: e.g., refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners), 2 (screens, monitors, and devices with a screen surface area of more than 100 cm²: e.g., televisions, laptops, tablets), or 4 (large appliances where at least one of the external dimensions exceeds 50 cm: e.g., washing machines, dishwashers, e-bikes) is delivered to your private household in accordance with the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), you have the legal right to have an old appliance of the same type, which performs essentially the same functions as the new appliance, collected free of charge. Therefore, you will be asked directly during the ordering process whether you wish to return an old appliance upon delivery of the new one.

If this service is not offered during the ordering process, the new device either does not belong to the categories mentioned above or the legal regulations regarding the take-back of old devices do not apply for other reasons. In this case, you can of course use the other disposal options mentioned above.

Why do old electrical appliances need to be taken to a collection point?

Electrical appliances contain valuable resources as well as pollutants. Collection points forward the old appliances to certified waste management companies, which first assess whether refurbishment and reuse are possible. Ideally, old products can be refurbished. If reuse is not possible, the old appliances are treated accordingly. Pollutants are removed from the appliances, and valuable resources are recycled. This protects the environment and conserves increasingly scarce resources.

Note on waste prevention

According to the provisions of Directive 2008/98/EC on waste and its implementation in the legislation of the Member States of the European Union, waste prevention measures generally take precedence over waste management measures. For electrical and electronic equipment, waste prevention measures include, in particular, extending its service life by repairing defective devices and selling functional used devices instead of disposing of them. Further information can be found in the [reference to relevant document/document]. Federal waste prevention program with the participation of the states .
